Design and build
The Xiaomi 11T brings exactly the same looks like the Pro model. They’re pretty hard to tell apart. But on the inside, there are a handful of differences feature-wise. The design is pretty sleek featuring a two-step camera bump and a really reflective curved glass back panel. A closer look will expose its subtle texture that looks like metal. The aluminum frame is also curved and is covered by a matte finish. And something you get here that many other mid-rangers don’t provide is protection against water and dust. This is to confirm that the 11T has an IP53, dust, and splash protection rating.
Cameras
As for the cameras, Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro have the same set of cameras. But the different chipsets have resulted in different processing and performance. There are three cameras on the back, a 108 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.52″, 0.7µm, PDAF main camera, an 8 MP, f/2.2, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/4″, 1.12µm, and a 5 MP, f/2.4, 50mm (telephoto macro), 1/5.0″, 1.12µm, AF camera. 12 megapixel shots from the main camera are great. They are rich in organic detail. Portraits taken with the main cam are good with decent subject separation. But the lack of HDR means more challenging scenes may become blown out.
The ultra-wide camera’s performance is actually great for this sort of camera. Its 8 megapixel photos are sharp and detailed, noise is kept under control and dynamic range is very good. 5 megapixel close-ups from the macro camera are pretty nice.
Selfies from the 16-megapixel front-facing camera are just okay, yes okay at best. Onto video recording, which can be done with the main cam and up to 4k resolution at 30 fps. This footage is excellent. There is a lot of detail with natural rendition with dynamic ranges at the flagship level. The ultrawide camera shoots in 1080p. The detail is all right for this resolution. And the dynamic range is good. There is electronic stabilization available even in 4k on the main camera. It does an excellent job at ironing out handheld shake.
Display
Let’s check out its display then Xiaomi Mi 11T 8GB 256GB has a 6.67 inch AMOLED with a fast 120 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Yes, you read that right, Gorilla Glass Victus. Anyway, thanks to the high refresh rate swiping and scrolling are quite smooth. And the screen is extra responsive because of its high 480 Hertz touch sampling rate. The screen’s refresh rate will adapt to certain apps like YouTube. This display is quite premium, especially for a mid-ranger. You do get support for 10-bit colors (1B colors). Speaking of which, colors are accurate and there are plenty of options to tweak them in settings. HDR 10 Plus support is also available here. Would have been nice if you did get Dolby vision here like on the Pro model.
Platform & performance
As for storage options, you get 128 or 256 gigabytes which are not expandable so be in the know. The interface of the Xiaomi 11T is the latest MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. At its core is the same interface we from Xiaomi for the past while with a familiar layout and features. And Xiaomi promises three major Android updates and four major security patches. Its MediaTek MT6893 Dimensity 1200 5G (6 nm) chipset also sets it apart from the Pro version. It provides upper mid-range level performance, as well as 5G connectivity. It stands strong against phones running Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series chips. There’s more than enough power here for smooth and dependable daily performance, as well as gaming.
Battery with fast charge
Now both the Pro version and Xiaomi 11T have a Li-Po 5000 mAh, non-removable battery capacity. But battery life is slightly better on this model with an endurance score of 98 hours in GSM Arena proprietary tests. The charging speed though is a different story altogether as the 11T supports 67-watt fast charging, and the adapter comes in the box. It’s super fast able to charge the phone from 0 to 86% in half an hour. Which, wait for it, is still much slower than the 120 watts charging you get with the Pro model.
