Its newly developed 30.4MP full-frame CMOS sensor delivers high image quality without sacrificing sensitivity. Paired with the DIGIC 6+ processor, the camera provides a wide ISO range of 100–32,000 (expandable to 50–102,400), making it highly adaptable in both bright and dim environments.

For accuracy in tricky lighting, the 5D Mark IV uses a 150,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor with face and flicker detection, ensuring well-exposed shots in challenging conditions. It also supports 7 fps continuous shooting, making it great for weddings, events, and action photography.

Advanced Autofocus: High Density Reticular AF + Dual Pixel CMOS AF

The camera is equipped with a 61-point High Density Reticular AF system, with 41 cross-type points and support for f/8 sensitivity across all points. The central point even works down to -3 EV, helping you focus in very low light. Compared to its predecessor, the autofocus coverage is expanded for better subject tracking across the frame.

When shooting in Live View or video, the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system provides fast, smooth focusing across about 80% of the image area. This is particularly useful for video, delivering cinematic rack focusing with touchscreen control for easy tap-to-focus adjustments.

Professional-Grade 4K Video

In-camera 4K video records at 4:2:2 8-bit, while Full HD footage records at 4:2:0. For higher quality output, uncompressed 1080p video with 4:2:2 sampling can be sent to an external recorder via HDMI.

4K video is captured with a 1.74x crop, ensuring sharp results with a 1:1 pixel ratio. Additionally, the camera allows you to extract 8.8MP stills directly from 4K footage. Audio options include a built-in stereo mic, external mic input, and a headphone jack for real-time monitoring.
