OnePlus Nord CE4 8GB 256GB has improved upon its predecessors in several ways. There is a new chipset, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 which replaces the 782G. A new Sony LYT600 has been subbed in to do main camera duties and the larger 5500mAh battery gets 100W charging support. Buy yours today from Kantronics
Design
Oneplus Nord CE4 design hearkens back to the original Nord CE with its vertically stacked camera layout. Like that model, you get three circular elements stacked on top of one another, although this time only two are actual cameras and the third is just the flash.
The oneplus Nord CE4 comes in two color variants. There’s the Dark Chrome, which is a glossy gray color with a shiny gradient to it. Then there’s the one we have here, which is the Celadon Marble. This also features a glossy back with a marbled pattern of green and white.
Display
The oneplus Nord CE4 has a 6.7-inch, 2412 x 1080 px resolution AMOLED display. The display can refresh up to 120Hz with a 240Hz touch sampling rate and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It supports full coverage of the sRGB and P3 color spaces, 10-bit color depth, and supports HDR10 and HDR10+ standards. Moving on to refresh rate, there have been fewer things to complain about since OnePlus added the ability to set a custom refresh rate for apps on the device. You can set most (but not all) apps to either 60Hz, 90Hz, or 120Hz. This works fine in most cases but not for games.
Charging
The oneplus Nord CE4 has a sizable 5500mAh battery with 100W fast charging. OnePlus claims 29 minutes for a full charge, which was replicated exactly in our testing. The phone also reached 69% charging in just 15 minutes. These are incredible results for any phone but especially one at this price point.
Audio
The oneplus Nord CE4 has a pair of stereo speakers. At lower volumes, the sound is a bit thin and lacking in low frequencies but sounds clear and natural. At about 70% volume, the sound gets extremely cluttered and muddy when playing music but is fine for spoken content like podcasts and YouTube videos.
Software
The oneplus Nord CE4 runs on OxygenOS 14 on top of Android 14.
Performance
The oneplus Nord CE4 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. It features 8GB LPDDR4X memory with no higher option unlike the Nord CE3, which also offered 12GB. You do get a choice of 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. A quick test showed the storage spec is actually correct this time. The experience of using the device is pretty seamless as the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip has plenty of performance for most tasks. The only area where we noticed the phone struggling was with playing high-resolution videos on YouTube, especially HDR videos, which would bring the phone to its knees for anything beyond 1080p. Aside from that and intensive gaming, the phone could handle everything we threw at it and the scrolling and app launches were quite smooth and responsive.
Camera
The oneplus Nord CE4 has a dual camera system on the back consisting of a 50MP Sony LYT600 wide and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide.
When it comes to video, the oneplus Nord CE4 captures up to 4K at 30fps on the main camera and 1080p at 30fps on the ultra-wide. Electronic stabilization is only available at 1080p resolution. There is also a dedicated Ultra Steady mode for further stabilization.
The 4K 30fps footage is richly detailed but terribly shaky as you are only dealing with optical stabilization. This mode is only usable for stabilized recording and shouldn’t be used in motion.
