Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 5G 8GB 128GB

OVERVIEW

This tablet features a powerful Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm) chipset with 5G connectivity and better performance. It debuts with Samsung’s new One UI 4.0 on top of Android 12. The Tab S8 also has a Li-Po 8000 mAh and an Adreno 730 GPU.  The tablet features a flat 120Hz TFT display, with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It has support for Stylus, and 6.2ms latency (Bluetooth integration, accelerometer, gyro).

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is a series of Android-based tablets designed, developed, and marketed by Samsung Electronics. Unveiled at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on 9 February 2022, they serve as the successor to the Galaxy Tab S7 series.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 will happily stream HD video from all popular services. Using the tablet and bright conditions is no problem either. Since the screen is not AMOLED, it supports a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and is not an under-display of the Plus model. The content looks great and the sound on this tablet is amazing too. Thanks for its quad stereo speaker setup (4 speakers) tuned by AKG and have Dolby Atmos support. There is no 3.5-millimeter jack on this device though. For traditional headphones, you’ll need to use a USB-C adapter or connect USBC headphones.

The screen of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 itself is TFT with 1600 x 2560 resolution. This gives you a total of 274 PPI (PPI higher than on the Plus). It has a 120 Hz refresh rate. This screen looks great. Enabling the high refresh rate doesn’t require you to change the resolution and it makes supported content and UI elements appear much smoother. By the way, is not this the same display Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 also had? In many ways, truly it is.

OPERATING SYSTEM

What you have got running the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is Android 12, One UI 4.1 launcher. One UI just brings the best of Android 12 here. For instance, the privacy features are present and correct. You can fast toggle the camera and microphone access for all apps. And when you load up an app that uses the camera or the mic, you’ll get a little indicator at the top corner. You’ve got great customization in one UI. For example, you change the wallpaper and everything as usual, but you’ll also see the new color palette option as well. This can actually change up the theme and colors based on the wallpaper you’ve got installed at the time.

S-Pen

Now the Galaxy Tab S7 series have S-Pens with 9ms latency. But read this, this time Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 has ultra-low 6.2ms latency. Taking notes is super easy. And the low latency coupled with a high refresh rate of the screen makes the writing sensation feel really authentic. The notes app can convert whatever you’ve written into the text. You can then export this text as a file, like a PDF or a word document. Plus, all of the notes you take can be synced via the Samsung cloud. This responsive stylus works great for drawing too. Screen translate is yet another useful feature of this S-Pen. There are also a variety of air actions, which are just your controls for the UI or supported apps. The S-pen runs on a battery and recharges wirelessly.
