OVERVIEW

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus price in Kenya starts at Ksh 115,500. This tablet features a powerful Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm) chipset with 5G connectivity and better performance. It debuts with Samsung’s new One UI 4.0 on top of Android 12. The Tab S8 Plus also has a Li-Po 10,090 mAh and an Adreno 730 GPU.  The tablet features a flat 120Hz Super AMOLED display, with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It has support for Stylus, 6.2ms latency (Bluetooth integration, accelerometer, gyro).

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is a series of Android-based tablets designed, developed, and marketed by Samsung Electronics. Unveiled at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on 9 February 2022, they serve as the successor to the Galaxy Tab S7 series.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus will happily stream HD video from all popular services. Using the tablet and bright conditions is no problem either. Since the screen is AMOLED, it supports an under-display, optical fingerprint scanner, unlike the side-mounted on the base model Tab S8. The content looks great and the sound on this tablet is amazing too. Thanks for its quad stereo speaker setup (4 speakers) tuned by AKG and have Dolby Atmos support. There is no 3.5-millimeter jack on this device though. You’ll need to use a USB-C adapter or connect USBC headphones for traditional headphones.

Operating system

What you have got running the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus is Android 12, One UI 4.1 launcher. One UI just brings the best of Android 12 here. For instance, the privacy features are present and correct. You can fast toggle the camera and microphone access for all apps. And when you load up an app that uses the camera or the mic, you’ll get a little indicator at the top corner. You’ve got great customization in one UI. For example, you change the wallpaper and everything as usual, but you’ll also see the new color palette option as well. This can change up the theme and colors based on the wallpaper you’ve got installed at the time.

Mini laptop

If you turn on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, you get something a bit different from a smartphone UI. This is more like what you’d find on a PC. Complete with stacking windows for each open app. Furthermore, Samsung offers a keyboard, which you can attach to the tablet (sold separately). But you can also connect your wireless keyboard and mouse. With this setup, what you will have before you is a substitute for a small laptop. It’s nice that you get expandable storage on the Galaxy Tab S8 as well as Tab S8 Plus. This is to say you can add on top of the 128 or 256 GB onboard. Something you do not see on the iPad Pro. The tablet offers options in 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM, and 256GB 12GB RAM. Oh, and by the way, Samsung DeX is wireless on this tablet. How cool is that? Wireless Samsung DeX? In Samsung DeX mode, you can take a closer look at things like videos, artwork, and documents on a larger display.

S-Pen

Now the Galaxy Tab S7 series have S-Pens with 9ms latency. But read this, this time Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus has ultra-low 6.2ms latency. Taking notes is super easy. And the low latency coupled with a high refresh rate of the screen makes the writing sensation feel authentic. The notes app can convert whatever you’ve written into the text. You can then export this text as a file, like a PDF or a word document. Plus, all of the notes you take can be synced via the Samsung cloud. This responsive stylus works great for drawing too. Screen translate is yet another useful feature of this S-Pen. There are also a variety of air actions, which are just your controls for the UI or supported apps. The S-pen runs on a battery and recharges wirelessly.
